Pros

This is a good company to learn storage business from the bottom up. I have been with the company for 2 years.

Cons

PM & RM's do all the property work, make all the money for the company and see none of the rewards. The DM's and higher up's who motivate are the one's who get the money and the trips. And poor benefits! Only PTO days and 3 paid holidays a year, no paid vacation time. I'm over the Google!

Pros

The Pros are getting harder to come by. At this point, I would say it's down to decent pay and good health care benefits.

Cons

I'm afraid that if they find out someone thinks the health care benefits are good, they'll reduce them. No annual increase, not even for cost of living. But then again, I haven't even received an annual review, so what do I expect. So much potential to be a great place, but the company just doesn't want to put in the effort. They'd rather squeeze whatever they can out of people before they finally throw in the towel. This place is the very definition of Micro Management. They want sales professionals, and the results that go with them, but don't want to pay for sales professionals. If you really want to engage employees in the results, compensate them for the results. The culture is that of a bunch of "Yes Men." If you are a mindless employee, and can nod your head to whatever the direction is for that day, this is the place for you. No opportunity for advancement of property managers...how inspiring is that?! Finally, there is a terrible, terrible work/life balance. Worse though, is that upper management knows this, and openly acknowledges that to get the job done, you must be willing to work outside business hours.

Pros

Public Storage is a good place to learn the business of storage. No late hours. Mid morning start time is great. Get to work one on one with the public.

Cons

Workers are not promoted beyond property manager. Upper management are hired outside the company and most have never worked in the storage business, yet think they know what works best over the people who actually work it.
