Pros

I've only been with PS for a relatively short period of time but felt the company deserved a better report than what I've seen here in the past. In fact, the overall score and tone of reviews made me hesitate applying for this position. I'm glad I did. I knew from the interview and on-boarding process that this was the place for me. You'll meet and interview with every level of management from DM to COO before an offer can be extended. I was encouraged to continue at each step of the process, thanks to the honest dialog about the what the job entailed, and the honest feedback as I progressed through my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th interview. Even more than that, the Regional Manager (my current boss) could not have created a more warm and welcoming environment. The training program is 4 months long, during which you will be fully compensated (12 months). As a DM you'll work closely and face to face with your peers in the region. Tasks that support the group will be broken up and shared amongst the team. Your Regional Manager is close by and well connected to your business. Expectations are high, but based on attainable goals that are easily tracked. You'll be empowered to run your business and recognized for your success. I came from a Big Box retailer with a hectic and unpredictable work schedule. PS values your time and expects that you have a life outside the office. That being said, this is no different than any other email and phone connected management position. A timely response is expected to all inquiries, and emergencies do come up.

Cons

I can think of one but there is a simple solution. We are lacking in real time performance updates at times. We simply manage the behaviors proven to lead to a positive result in the absence of reporting.

Pros

Lunch and breaks whenever you want. Plenty of down time. You oversee entire office and property. Good district manager. Good job to start of your close to the job and not needing to pay rent.

Cons

Worried about getting held up at gunpoint depending on location. Short 30 minute lunch break. The person you work after may completely NOT do a single thing and make you look bad if a district manager or regional manager come in and blame you. Sales are forced. If you don't make your sales goal they will make you feel uneasy, lower than the others - even if you run places that make lower revenue. They have reduced our bonus to 0% unless you make them a lot of money. You're expected to force customers to buy insurance illegally. You'll have to pick up dead rats and birds, change lightbulbs, fix gates and doors and pay is nlt worth the work. On our conference calls they say we need to sell better but they disguise it as we are helping the customer. The upper management are wealthy and boast about their possessions and vacations while we all have cars that are running on empty and can hardly pay our rent.
