Pros

Most of the faculty that I encountered as a graduate assistant were invested in their students, classes were great, and my peers were wonderful.

Cons

The university clearly doesn't value the social sciences all that much. Salary as a graduate student in the social sciences was very low, especially compared with the salary of people in agriculture, engineering, and "hard" sciences. It was impossible to afford housing, food, and other necessities without borrowing or using credit cards.

Pros

Great flexibility. Great Management. Good benefits and PTO. Everyone you work with is very nice and most of them have been there long enough to help you with whatever you need.

Cons

Mobility. Most of the lower level management jobs only have a couple of higher up positions before you are stuck in a dead end job. They then only look to the outside world to fill those higher up positions.
