Purdue University is a great place to work because it is safe, and the benefits are good. You do get a discount on tuition for yourself or your children. My department has a great culture, but you can easily get stuck in some nasty spaces.

Cons

The salaries are subpar for the community, it is difficult to advance. There are no raises. There is a lot of infighting and stagnation, there is a strong aversion to change.
