Good potential, terrible execution

Pros

QTS is doing better every day. One day, they might actually become what they strive to be. Superficially, the facilities are beautiful. Just don't look beneath the surface. The benefits package greatly improved over time, and the training opportunities became much more robust. Executive leadership is actually pretty involved and easy to talk to. If they take the necessary steps to fix middle management, the company can be great.

Cons

-Everything looks great, but is usually a result of cost cutting. This means there's little consistency between sites and even between rooms in the same facility. -Training is available, but you have to follow their path. If you're not interested in the specific certifications they want you to achieve, you'll eventually face some kind of punishment, but they never go into detail of what that is. Most people leave before they find out. -There is little accountability. This is true within teams and between departments. If you don't have a specific contact, then odds are good you'll be on your own to fix whatever problems arise. If someone doesn't follow through with their obligations, it's up to you to fix. -Standards exist for a reason. Either follow them or don't, but don't pay them lip service and ignore them. -Management needs some serious training. Our team lost everyone over the course of a year and half. At one point it was all taken up the chain only to be ignored. The same manager that caused the problems is still there and still committing the same mistakes. This is a common theme and the reason I left.

I want to thank you for your candid and obviously thoughtful feedback. Like any good and growing company, we know there are always areas for improvement, and we appreciate your comments. We are aware of some opportunities with developing great leaders and are working toward that with the opening of our new leadership academy later this year. We’ll definitely take your comments into account when developing curriculum for this new venture. Again, thank you and we hope you’ve found something that is proving to be a better fit for you. Pros

Some of the employees are intelligent.

Cons

Read, take heed! Knowledge is Power! SCORE = ZERO!!! All the negative reviews are absolutely the truth! Dog N Pony Show, Wolf in sheep's clothing..this is the reality of what happens at QTS. The negative reviews are bc former employees aren't angry or jaded by this BS company, but need convey to others to STAY AWAY!! Management is so bad, if an employee is smart, creative and has great suggestions -they will be terminated. If you are ambitious, college educated or smarter than your manager -you WILL BE SHOWN THE DOOR! Mgmt will actually make up reasons to fire employees when they stand up for what's right! lManagers and directors here allow their lily white employees to come in late -you are clocked if you are darker than paper. If you point out the unfair treatment from mgmt -you will be terminated. If you are darker than lily white paper - you will NOT be promoted. Also, managers here will pull badge reports on employees that are darker and have more pigment than paper. QTS doesn't value diversity-they operate as if it is 1967 and affirmative action doesn't exist! Please tell me you see problems with this?? This regime is run by the good ol'boy network and alt-right that want to "PRAISE THE LORD" in the All Hands meeting. QTS is publicly traded company yet begin meetings by leading with prayer? Do you see any problems w/this yet? There are employees that have been w/ the company 7-15 yrs that have NOT and will NOT be promoted under this regime. Do you see any problems yet? Keep reading. QTS doesn't own, manufacture or create any security, cloud or storage products -they attempt to resell vendor products which customers DO NOT BUY. What AWS or Open Stack? AGAIN NO PRODUCTS! Talking to mid-level management and directors at this company is pointless - you will receive more feedback from a DOG than this mgmt team. Nepotism runs rampant at a publicly traded company -do you see any problems w/ this? If you are the daughter-in-law of the VP - your new title DIRECTOR. If you are the cousin of the CEO -your new title CFO. If you are a church friend of the CEO -your new title -HR Director. Do you see any problems with this? If you don't agree with the dog n pony show - you will FAIL here. If you aren't a snitch, backstabber, or flat out BUTT KISSER all day LONG -you will FAIL here. If you report your manager to HR -the HR department will call your manager immediately and tell them what happened! DO YOU SEE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS?? There are employees that will run and tell management to remove individuals from an account bc there's a "conflict of interest" REALLY? Do you see any problems with this? The largest airline in Atlanta decided to take their business to a competitor bc they could see through this DOG N PONY SHOW! If you have no opinion, can kiss butt, keep your head down, just nod and agree -SCARED to run from this place -you will do well here. You have to see the WOLF for what he truly is as he's coming towards you - with that fake smile. Please don't believe that this company has an "open door" policy - if you speak out against your manager, director or VP - you will be FIRED!! Mgmt doesn't actually practice all the BS training they try to preach and force employees to attend. If you listened to the trainer - wouldn't you actually listen to your employees? Do you see any problems w/this? If you are between the ages of 50-68 YOU WILL DO WELL HERE bc this is your last RODEO!! This company isn't a technology company - it's a REIT. They DON'T have any ground-breaking technology - they ask in meetings "why are so many employees leaving us?" Here's a tip: bc this isn't a TECHNOLOGY COMPANY this is a REIT! Don't work here the WOLF in sheep's clothing is an accurate depiction of daily life at QTS. If you want to be valued -look elsewhere. These reviews are written by real people, not marketing firms and if you see positive reviews, those are written by HR. The pay is 30-40% lower compared to other companies. Please take heed! Knowledge is Power! All the 5 stars posted in the last 2 months were written by the alt-right managers, directors and HR department that drink the company Kool-Aid to boost their Glassdoor rating.

The main problem we see here is that there is little factual information in this review. We have many instances of people who are willing to work hard, are motivated by challenging themselves to learn more and take on new opportunities who have moved up in this company – some all the way to VP and above positions. As a publically traded company, there are no secrets in the fact we are a REIT. We own and operate world-class data centers with best-in-class customer service provided by employees who love this brand and care about our customers. We pride ourselves in creating a culture of excellence and integrity. We’re sorry you didn’t feel comfortable within this culture and wish you the best in your future endeavors. One of the upsides to rapid growth is the fact that it creates opportunities for people who are willing to embrace it. It sounds like you are definitely one of those types of people and we are thankful to have you as part of our QTS family. I appreciate your actionable feedback on things we can continue to focus on to improve both the employee and customer experience. Thank you. Shweta Bhatia Director, People Services Operations
