I've had a good shake of the dice, others haven't

Pros

QTS is willing to invest time and money on people and ideas that have potential. They replace backfill and expand if needed. Benefits are about the corporate America standard, with generous volunteer opportunities. Groups within the company, like the team I'm on, can be very pleasant to work with. In my position, work life balance has been pretty good with a pretty decent salary. The no alcohol policy at the company may kill some fun, but it's probably for the better as there's basically no after hours drama.

Cons

Scatterbrained corporate strategy - the company has repeatedly bit off more than it can chew and tries to scramble to implement something that should have been thought out better before pursuing. They chase every rabbit they see. There's been numerous individuals who have been on the brunt end of trying implementing the impossible, getting burned out and quitting - they really get the short end of the stick. The lost knowledge from this needless turnover has made thing so much more inefficient - the wheels been reinvented too many times. Strangest looking org chart I've seen and it's only gotten stranger. There's an overt military boys presence with fast tracked promotions for those in the right 'group'. While I got a fair shake of the dice, there's been numerous people who have repeatedly been passed over for promotion and never compensated for their fire drill resolutions. There's a big communication problem. Instead of pursuing more effective group wide / company wide information distribution and carving time for documentation, they double down on being 'In Person' at the office. This only reinforces the problem as there's too many conference room discussions where decisions are made but never emailed out to the broader audience that needs to know. The CEO irks me to no end. There's a sort of cult of personality around his antics that's very off-putting. He has no business strategy outside of let's grow megawatts sold - which leads to above mentioned problems. The company values ring hollow based on actual actions.
