Worst Career Experience Ever

Pros

There are some good people trying to perform technical work, even if it is just a very small percentage of this incredibly top heavy company.

Cons

Upper management will lie to your face moments before showing you the door. You receive high praise for your contributions and are told how valued you are one week, and then literally the very next week you're being told that the <latest> reorganization has consolidated or eliminated your position and you are immediately escorted out the door with a smile and a handshake.

Top Heavy, Low on Talent and Dishonest

Pros

I struggle to think of one positive aspect of this company. Really disappointed with the whole experience.

Cons

Everyone at QTS knows that what they do to their employees is wrong, but the culture of fear is so prevalent that you wouldn't dare speak up. Management tries to brainwash them into thinking there is nothing else outside of the QTS walls. In fact, once you realize you cannot take it anymore and you leave, you look back to find that QTS is a dark hole filled with unhappy people and inexperienced management/executives who are bent on collecting a paycheck and fending off your questions with misdirection. CEO and executives are self serving and condescending. Their answer to every problem (and believe me, there are so many in QTS, you have no idea) is to hire another executive (all friends or family members of other executives or the CEO) and have them point fingers at their employees. This company is so top heavy, like an inverted pyramid, pointing in the direction that the company has been heading for years....down. The entire time I worked there they consistently let go of higher paid and higher level professionals, replacing them with inexperienced people just to save money. Once you start to see through the charade, they pull your plug and send you on your way. I watched it happen over the years many many times. They also like to keep newer people to prevent things like 401k vesting, vacation time accumulation, etc. It is very disappointing to know that it took me so long to finally leave that place. To all current employees: There is life on the other side, and life is good. Wish you were here. I would not even consider returning, even if my salary was doubled.

"Belonging and Engagement" is NOT Diversity and Inclusion

Pros

Competitive pay/benefits. Genuinely great, intelligent people work here. Focus on sustainability and giving back to communities.

Cons

CEO is incredibly conservative, letting his personal beliefs bleed into the business and company policies/programs. Public CEO-led prayer is uncomfortable/not inclusive. Lacking in diversity, particularly at leaderhip levels. CPO has no HR experience, and it clearly shows. C-Suite seems like a "boys club" with the power to terminate employees who challenge decisions or don't align to their beliefs.

QTS Response

QTS was founded on values that include faith, and we welcome employees of all backgrounds. We have a wonderfully diverse team, which is one reason for our incredible success. We believe we have a unique culture where every individual can do excellent work, contribute to something bigger than themselves, serve our communities together, and build incredible relationships along the way. You're correct that we chose "Belonging & Engagement" purposefully to create environments of belonging for all employees to "BE" who they are, and we encourage everyone to stay open, authentic, curious, informed, and becoming their best selves. We work hard to keep our focus on the things that bring us together around our common mission, but we are also continuously working together to listen, learn, and grow, while offering above-and-beyond care to every person on our team. When we survey our employees, we absolutely look at every data point and every comment, and we're proud that we have published an action plan to the entire company with our commitments. Of course we celebrate the things we're doing well, but we also take accountability (another core value) and select areas in which to make a difference. We take ethics VERY seriously and have built the largest data center company in the world on our integrity, character, and the trust we've developed with our employees, customers, and our communities. Thank you for your years of service, and we wish you the very best in your next endeavor.
