Pros

Facilities look great - the data center is actually a show-room. Some of the people are great, have knowledge and experience but be very careful - they will turn on you and backstab you fearing they will loose their job if they try to do something correct but goes against what the non-technical upper management wants. Benefits are OK, but don't expect that much. That's about it, oh and free coffee, but you have to use your own mug.

Cons

Read the reviews before I started working there. I was very weary, but my manager and my co worker's work ethic and great attitude convinced me to join. At first glance, the company "appears" to be great, but that is just smoke in mirrors. Management is primarily ran by clueless people, worried only to please upper management and not do the right thing. Upper management just wants to purchase new facilities, make them look pretty but not really functional and market that as world class - completely ignoring the technology side - i.e. invesing in upgrading their core infrastructure that supports all their customers. They seem to only care about driving the stock price up. Their recent acquisition of Carpathia was a total fiasco - they purchased a company based on partial truths just so QTS can say they are competitive in the managed services market - which is not the case. Selling and managing floor space (read REIT) is NOT the same as providing managed services to customers - something QTS is still ignoring. If you like to be in an organization that re-organizes every 2 months, then this is the place to be. We were in the middle of a reorganization when the whole Carpathia deal was announced, which triggered another re-organization (the first one was not fully implemented). Fast forward 3 weeks, then they announce another reorganization. "Funny" to see techs not having a clue what their actual responsibilities are and their managers struggling with the same. Most of the reviews here are truthful, except for the 5 stars "everything is awesome" reviews which were clearly written by someone in H/R just to boost their ratings. There are some older really negative reviews that are not true as well - specifically the one that states that everyone is drunk or high (former DCO technician in various locations). People turnover is amazing! People with real talent run away as fast as they can when they get past the smoke screen QTS portrays and they see what they really are in for. People with no real talent tend to stay. Saw entire departments have a 100% turnover and management did nothing. You know something is really wrong with the company when the entire informaiton security department resigns within a 3 month period. To my knowledge, upper management really has not done anything about that, which does not surprise me since they did nothing about the other departments that had similar turnover. QTS says they are about people, but that is typically not the case with management, especially upper management. Be weary of mid-level management and higher - if you do not align with them at 100% (meaning, keep your opinions to yourself), then they will make it a point to make you look bad in front of everyone just because and to make themselves look more "important". Also, not backfilling positions and dumping more work on the already over-worked staff should not be what your slogan is - "datacenters driven by people". Their marketing of QTS being "world class leaders in security" is 100% a pure marketing scheme, as well as pretty much everything else they claim to be "leaders" in.

Pros

Some really great employees. Mostly friendly atmosphere. Flexibility.

Cons

Compensation is severely lacking when judged against the market. Talent and hard work is not rewarded or appreciated except if you're "in" with management. There is no opportunity for advancement, and no promotion from within, unless the company feels they can rip you off. If you're too qualified, too smart or too good at your job, you'll go nowhere. Though, that is good news for people that are unqualified to hold leadership positions, but can speak like they are. A lot of times, it feels like there are a bunch of used car salesmen running this "tech" company. Lack of true leadership, innovation or real direction. Over-emphasis on "Christian family values" makes for awkward situations and is outright annoying at company functions. Employees are largely treated as if they're stupid. Double-speak and slimy dishonesty are rampant throughout company meetings and functions. Meetings feel like going to a Pentecostal church service - there are even prayer sessions. Very cult-like. Emphasis is placed on making the company money, when it should be squarely placed on taking care of its people.

Pros

Beautiful & clean facility. Majority of coworkers are very pleasant. Relaxed dress code.

Cons

Backstabbing management. They will tell you Monday they want you to work on ABC, then say they want XYZ 2 days later. By Fri, you're in trouble because you didn't finish ABC despite the change in project direction & will throw you under the bus. Product training is pathetic! The attention grabber is some static picture of an office environment & 2 people w a situation narrated in crazy voices/dialects. I'm not sure if they are trying to be cute, ironic, or what, but it's annoying & distracting. Personally, I just click through the modules just to get to the quiz part so I can get it done & go back to my projects. At least they treat employees better than the contractors. The they let 1 recently go when he/she was getting behind on a project, but was legitimately sick, seeking medical help, & had doctor notes to rest. Finally, employee parking is a nightmare, but promises from management that it's only temporary.
