Pros

There really are none. There are some really good people to work with, but they are frustrated and leaving too.

Cons

They are demonstrating they want to be at the bottom of the wage pool for the area, but expect top end performance. They say trust is one of their key principles but their management show us nearly complete lack of trust. We're told they want our input - don't settle for how things have always been done - challenge to improve, but the managers that should be listening are stuck in the "this is how we've always done it" mode. HR is supposed to be a mediator between the employees and management - to keep things fair for all. All they do is find creative ways to provide cover for poor management decisions. We've already lost many many good people - the most dedicated employees who put their lives into the company. There are a few of us left, but we lose more every week. Extreme double standards in almost every aspect of the job.

Pros

Quad/Graphics had great benefits and a friendly family oriented culture and they really do seem to care about their employees. The in-house medical clinic/dentist and fitness center made everything convenient. As one that doesn't have much interest in fashion, I even saw the uniform as a plus: I could get dressed in the dark without ever having to worry about if the shirt matched the pants.

Cons

Salary lags behind other comparable positions in the area. While other benefits have made up for this in the past, they have been fairly steadily eroded of the last several years. The physical work environment is horrible. The office space is is almost exclusively cube farms on enclosed mezzanines above the production floor with occasional windows or skylights. I depending on where your desk is (had 5 or six in my time there) the insulation is barely adequate, and the HVAC insufficient. You will often feel the heat radiating down from the roof in the summer, cold in the winter and hear alarms and horns from the machines below (or worse, feel vibrations.)

Pros

Good benefits. Large employer with growth if one can make it through the continuous cuts.

Cons

This company has changed considerably since the son of the founder took over and took the company public. It has lost the intimacy of working for a true team with the same goal in mind. Many long term employees have been let go and driven out to prop the company financially. These people gave their soul to the founder only to be considered a statistic on a document. The morale has dropped tremendously and everyone is now just watching their backs. Management is a revolving door and it's difficult to even follow who's in and who's out. The customers are frustrated but due to this industry & choices shrinking, they have no where else to go. It's very sad to see a wonderful company become a hollow shell of itself.
