Pros

Decent wages and Good benefits. If you're a focused, hard worker you'll find some great people (usually peers) surrounding you that support and encourage.

Cons

Be willing to compromise with work standards. Expect no compensation for going above and beyond. No Fairness in accountability, if it falls on your shift, expect to pick up the slack. Pressmen can get extremely agitated to the point where you feel you're on a Navy boat. Expletives and belittling are plenty - Totally contradicting of company's values. Responses regarding request for action pertaining to conditions and/or equipment are either extremely delayed or ignored until someone gets hurt or it halts production. Room for Advancement until you're planted where you're needed. 12hr shifts with floating mandatory overtime make it extremely difficult to plan and maintain a stable work/life balance.

Concerned About Company Direction

Pros

10 paid holidays, lower health care costs (if you don't have to use the medical), they have telemedicine available - free to health plan subscribers, some sites have fitness centers, daycare and onsite medical.

Cons

Some of the concerns I have: there seems to be a disconnect between influential leaders at the top, and people who actually work in the Divisions. Leaders at Sussex, WI (Corporate headquarters) lead the company - following the company's Core Values, however this doesn't translate out to the other divisions across the country. We consistently hear about "Economic Headwinds", which translates to plant closures, layoffs and doing more with less. While focusing on metrics are key to any company's growth, at times there is more focus on the expectation of meeting numbers rather than understanding why we didn't get there. Quad has always had a mindset that they have lower pay, but make up for it with benefits and culture. They were the top company to work for many years. This has changed as the economy has changed. Quad still pays lower, and expects you to be okay with it, or they will just hire someone else. (This may not be the attitude Executives portray, but their leadership does.) The cost of benefits continue to increase, as with most companies. Most recently, there have been drastic benefit changes in order to stay ahead of the competition in cost reduction.
