Pros

Amazing launch pad for career, but not career long place. They love to hire young developers for cheaper pay, which is great for internships and straight out of college people. I credit my successful career in this industry to my college internship and first full time job at Quad. But would advise moving on after knowledge and experience gained.

Cons

This is the perfect place to get your foot in the door and gain experience, best of any from all I've talked to. But after 2 years, if you're not still learning, move on and find yourself a big pay bump in the market. Quad under pays, but once they've given you the real world skills, the pay day can be found elsewhere. In this industry, if you're not moving every 3 years, you'd better be gaining knowledge, or being rewarded significantly for the knowledge you contain. But stay vigilant!

Pros

Great work environment, awesome coworkers. It is a great first job out of college. Allows the ability to work in many different development fields.

Cons

Job requires uniforms that you must pay for. Starting salary is a bit below average. Company retirement matching is a rarity.

Pros

Quad/Graphics had great benefits and a friendly family oriented culture and they really do seem to care about their employees. The in-house medical clinic/dentist and fitness center made everything convenient. As one that doesn't have much interest in fashion, I even saw the uniform as a plus: I could get dressed in the dark without ever having to worry about if the shirt matched the pants.

Cons

Salary lags behind other comparable positions in the area. While other benefits have made up for this in the past, they have been fairly steadily eroded of the last several years. The physical work environment is horrible. The office space is is almost exclusively cube farms on enclosed mezzanines above the production floor with occasional windows or skylights. I depending on where your desk is (had 5 or six in my time there) the insulation is barely adequate, and the HVAC insufficient. You will often feel the heat radiating down from the roof in the summer, cold in the winter and hear alarms and horns from the machines below (or worse, feel vibrations.)
