Pros

Lots of opportunity for those that pursue it New CIO is making positive changes

Cons

Too many over titled individual contributors in IT, which is an artifact from prior leadership. Too few are capable of delivering high-quality work or able to think out of the box which results in no work-life balance for those that care about the work and services they provide.

Pros

-Still one of the better benefits among the companies in San Diego -Lots of talented people (though most who were smart enough, or could, have already left)

Cons

Reeks of greed. CONSTANT downgrades in everything compared to what it was in the last 10 years... from the quality of toilet paper, removal of reverse osmosis water filters, health plan, Qualstar ($100 peer rewards down to $50), removing access to JCC gyms, charging $4 monthly for 401K, canceling end-of-the-year parties, etc. The IT department at Qualcomm used to be world-class. They've outsourced it and nowadays it's a total waste of time; "let me research that" is a typical answer when you ask IT a question - total waste of resources. Laptop refreshers take 5+ years and engineers get stuck with old, outdated equipment. CEO & Jacobs each took $59 million in bonus a few years ago when employees were getting laid off. HR typically shows you their middle finger if you ask for a market adjustment (I'm at 92% according to them, and I asked for one - they gave me %0.1 raise ... yes, that's tenth of 1 percent). Initially when they downgraded the health plan a few years ago, the physical flyers that were mailed to us read something along the lines of "the details of your health plan UPGRADE"... downright twisted. All that said, HR is making promotions beyond Staff level very difficult to impossible - good luck with that career growth if you join
