Pros

The pay is good, and some of the extra benefits are nice. Most of the customers are fine, there are some annoying ones that come in but mostly you'll see regulars and people who just want to get in and get out.

Cons

I work as an overnight manager, and my store manager is completely unappreciative of the work I do. Every morning that he comes in after me (Mon-Wed) it's something new to nitpick. Oh, there's a little bit of dust on top of the sign that no one can see? Great. I should have made time to go outside to run trash at 3am even though I haven't stopped to use the bathroom or eat and I won't have time to do either of those things. Never expect a "thanks" or a "good job" or even a positive word of encouragement. You'll be on your feet for 10 hours at a time, sweating and stressing, only to be told to do more. It really is all about the money for managers, every time someone calls in or takes an early shift off the manager bitches about how much money the person lost and how someone not from our store had to cover the shift. Night Assistants get Wednesday and Thursday nights off. Yay. Expect absolutely zero social life unless you have a good friend who works the exact same schedule.

Pros

QuikTrip is a growing company and if you're on the ground level you can easily make it up to the top. The bonuses and benefits are really nice and helpful at times and most employees/coworkers seem more mindful of the job than the drama that goes on in the job. Management dictates where and how soon their employees advance and most managers are able and willing to assist their employees progress and advancement.

Cons

Most advancements seem to take place from clerk to RA and then onward. Starting out as a clerk seems to be the best route for advancement. NA's seem to be both the backbone and peeon for the company getting the least favorable hours and pay while being unable to have a social life. Management dictates advancement, no matter how hard you work and if for some reason your manager seems to be holding you back there is no way to advance, you're just stuck at the store unable to move on to ERP or any other program for whatever arbitrary reason. The rate of pay keeps you on a tight leash if you are the sole income for a household.
