Large Company Operating in Silos

Pros

The company is large, stable and very profitable with locations and customers all over the globe. There are several opportunities for training as well as some support for furthering your education/certifications/etc.

Cons

The company seems to operate in silos with each business entity operating on its own. There is no sense of being part of a family and no feelings of recognition outside your unit. Hard work which results in meeting the company's financial goals are rewarded with a .5% bonus of one's bonus earning potential. A half a percent given for growing a business. Seriously. That paired with the 1% annual raise (not a guarantee) and yearly increase of insurance premiums means one actually has a decrease in salary working with RRD when taking into account general cost of living increases. The benefits as well are absolutely horrible and HR doesn't seem to be in touch with employees' well being. I'm better off with the required "affordable" health plan mandated by the government which has me paying everything out-of-pocket, than I am paying the high premiums for coverage that still includes crazy high deductibles.
