Dying industry

Pros

Good pay once you've advanced past entry level jobs Benefits include 11 paid holidays and 2 weeks of vacation once you start your second year Overtime opportunities

Cons

The print industry is being decimated by the Internet making long term employment questionable - don't plan on retiring from this job if you're still young Forced overtime On-the-job training is hit or miss because it's not handled by dedicated trainers

Pros

-Paid overtime -(Mostly) nice coworkers -Good office location

Cons

-Extremely low employee morale -High turnover (teams constantly losing members so work load increases dramatically for everyone else) -No work/life balance - people are constantly expected to work late and on weekends with no notice -Only 5 PTO days your first year (no opportunity to work remotely or from a different office - many employees are not able to travel back to their homes/native lands for 2+ years) -Bad benefits package (dental insurance especially expensive) -Archaic technology -Must work for 3 years to receive any tuition reimbursement (continuing professional education not encouraged at all) -Very few after-work parties, happy hours, etc. Usually the only after-work get-togethers happen when someone is leaving the company -Management micromanages and is very old-school and not open to new ideas (most people try to avoid management and lay low because dealing with them is often so negative and emotionally draining) -Hardly any flexibility with schedule and working from home (even on days before holidays people are not let out early and most end up working late)

A total letdown company.

Pros

Flexible hours if needed. In the past there "were" opportunities to help out other teams within the company and travel to do so.

Cons

Poor benefits. 401k matching gone! No bonuses whatsoever for quite a few years now! no raises in the past few years! Not even an increase in pay to help with inflation! Poor morale for employees! If you have an issue and wish to speak to Human Resources about it, it is not kept confidential! Employees milk the company when they can due to lack of proper management. Employees on salary have been allowed to miss numerous days with pay and not be noticed or get caught, been happening for years. No relocation allowance/package available for employees wanting to seek out better opportunities within the company. Too many employees not being recognized for their strengths and others being promoted for no reason whatsoever. Company keeps growing and acquiring new businesses using hard earned employee's funds basically, by means from employee's deserved raises, bonuses and 401k matching.
