Large parking space is the only good thing

Pros

The roadside patrol role is an amazing opportunity to be apart of something special. Helping people at their time of need, whether that be enroute to holiday, work, appointments or simply when theyve nipped to do a spot of shopping. Being there to help is an amazing feeling. Its gives you the chance to meet some really good people that in a normal workshop job you wouldnt. And its not just the members, working with the staff within across all departments is a pleasure. Of course being happy at work is also about what you can earn as much as is it is about the people you work with. The earning potential in a patrol role has no limits, there is regular overtime if you want it and you dont have to work yourself into the ground to be comfortable. In terms of career progression, given the many different levels of management, departments and operations, you could start your career as a roadside patrol, move into technical support, health & safety, training or a number of other opportunities on offer. You rota is issued 12 monthly so you know all your days off so can plan your life around it. Holidays are 7 days x 3 plus 120 hours so plenty of down time if your clever and book the hours off around your rota on weeks that are light on hours working. You are issued your own van so no sharing, you start and finish from home so no commuting. There alot of employee benefits available for yourself and your family including health care, dental care, pensions, councilling, mental health support to name a few. All together theres lots on offer and working and being attached with a well established and successful brand gives you great security and comfort.

Cons

You do work shifts so it takes a bit of getting used to but the variety in shift lengths, earlys/lates,weekends etc makes a refreshing change. Weekends and bank holidays are just another day. You are working outside in all weathers. Sometimes you can be working in dangerous locations or high risk areas, that said there are comprehensive safety processes to follow and always support.

Pros

The training is good - its short but its presented really well and the three trainers I have met have all been really helpful. the induction where you get to wander around the building a bit is great on the first day. Everyone makes you feel welcome. There is a cafe in the building. The security guy who is the first person you meet is very friendly and chatty and makes you feel welcome on day 1.

Cons

The onboarding is a little slow - there is a lot of messing about with virtual paperwork and the app can be a bit confusing at times. The coffee machines have been taken out (there used to be free ones but now we are all expected to huddle around a small area to make our own tea/coffee - this is a terrible idea).
