Pros

Strong network capabilities both from internal and external sources. Research methods are down to earth, and frequently adopted by stakeholders.

Cons

A lot of financial stress. High turnover rate. No spaces for promotion.

Pros

Flexibility, Collegiality, Stimulating and Variety of Work, Great physical facilities, generous vacation and benefits. Get paid more while you are on vacation :) I very much enjoyed my time at RAND. I learned a lot from my colleagues and felt like the organization was very supportive of my career development

Cons

Work comes in fits and starts. It can be challenging to maintain a full portfolio. The salaries are competitive with academia, but offices are generally in high cost of living locales. I put the variety of work on the plus side of the ledger but it can be challenging to juggle several different projects at once
