Pros

Great meaningful place to work that has the best of nonprofit / CBO mission and mindset but with corporate infrastructure and resources. As a “flat” org, there’s a lot of access and flexibility for project choice but this isn’t for everyone. Great smart people and commitment to impact. Strong culture and lots of flexibility and support

Cons

It’s a balance between the classified / national security side and social economic policy, but this can be a good breath of work.

Pros

Great colleagues, plenty opportunities for professional development, interesting work, flexible work schedule, opportunity for career advancement.

Cons

Have to find work to fill your day, periods of stress/extra hours, sometimes have to work on issues that aren't necessarily the ones you want to be working on.

Pros

Projects are genuinely interesting and meaningful, with huge opportunities to learn about new areas and new research methods. Colleagues are some of the brightest and best, pleasure to work with and learn from

Cons

Pay is very low for the work, and hours can be long (50-60hrs not unusual). Office politics is abundant - sometimes feels like a disconnect between senior management and the lower research staff.
