Pros

Great entry-level work place where you can explore new topics. The internal labor market makes forces you to be proactive to meet new mentors.

Cons

Not much support for skill development. Very much a learn on the job type of environment. The internal labor market can be difficult to navigate in coverage-balancing.

Pros

Met some nice people who were passionate about the mission and the value of RAND for the government.

Cons

Leadership is really atrocious from middle managers to the CEO. I have worked at private businesses that included nicer people than the managers at RAND. It is heartbreaking to see how people are treated by unqualified managers who are only in their positions because they refuse to stand up for the mission or have values.
