Pros

They believe and demonstrate an understanding for work life balance. They are pretty fair to their employees and treat us well. Some strides have been made to improve diversity at the bank and while this is appreciated we cannot sit on our laurels. Most of the managers and employees exhibit our commitment to our colleagues, clients and the community and I am proud to be associated with a great group of people. We need to constantly innovate and listen to feedback to improve our processes and procedures. The leaders are great but we need to see more diversity at the top ranks of the bank.

Cons

There is a lot of bureaucracy and policies that do not work take a long time to be changed.

Pros

The best reasons to work for RBC are the benefits and "possible" opportunity to advance into more lucrative position. RBC is the largest company in Canada.

Cons

The systems and incompetent and employs can render frustration. At the retail level, management seems to feel that they are above your level of inteligence. They can be condescending. Also, employees that have been working for the bank for many years but have a position that requires less responsibility and ultimitely less power, will challenge you on every issue. They are usually always wrong. This is frustrating and makes the atmosphere somewhat undesirable.

Pros

Voyageur Asset Management, a subsidiary, is where I worked. The senior management team there was an admirable group, overall this was a boutique of highly intelligent and experienced folks. I appreciated the location of the home office, the environment and the outings as well as the people I worked with.

Cons

The bureaucracy of moving lateraly or otherwise within the mother company was apparent. I didn't like many things about the way HR worked with employees, especially the ambiguity and lacking in the tuition reimbursement program at the time.
