Pros

Set your own hours. Can travel.

Cons

I have never worked for a company that never gives raises, all they do is give us pay decreases. They state that their equipment is getting better and with the updates will ultimately make you work faster. I say it still goes back to the person inputting the information. You can give us the best software and programs around, but that doesn't make you faster. My annual salary had been cut in half. Every year I am making less and less every year. It's hard to get good support or for anyone to fight for you. Corporate office feels they are always right and don't care to hear what their data collectors have to say. Apparently they feel they are running this company just fine. I'm sure while all of the Corporate employee's are being taken care of and probably haven't taken any pay cuts m but have probably received raises since our pay has been and keeps being reduced. Although as data collectors we are the one who keep your company running and a float, I wish that they would realize that and reward us with something other than pay decreases. Without us going out and doing the work your company would fail. Who really knows what goes on at corporate, no data collector will know. It astounds me that we get no incentives to even stay with this company. I have been with Retail Data for over 5 years and I bet if I quit on the spot, they wouldn't even care. Alot of seasoned data collectors have quit and corporate had done nothing to try to keep them employed with the company. This tells me that we don't matter and they don't care about us. It doesn't matter how long you have been with the company, how fast you are, your willingness to pick up extra jobs, help out where you can, rearrange your schedule to get a job done, to them you are a dime a dozen and they can easily replace you.

Pros

The only pro I can think of is that one is not a slave in the true sense foo the word and you are free to quit and take another job and the little money you earn is still preferable to being unemployed with no income. I know its a stretch but that's the best thing I can say

Cons

Imagine a VERY LOW PAYING JOB in which virtually every second you work its like performing root canal surgery in terms of both stress and fulfillment. Once you get past the 50 days Bait and Switch where the company pays you what you thought was a stating salary of $10.00 only to get better, you then move to a piece rate. You don't realize until your are in the job a while that from that point on you literally only get paid every second you work for this awful company. And you spend so much other time other than scanning that they don't pay you one cent for the work you do. They are so cheap and despicable they won't pay for Internet service and they expect you to go on your own time and look for wireless hotspots to transmit data. No, I am not making this up for those of you considering to work at this rat's litter box of a company. There is no quality training provided by the District Manager;s other than the first few days--then you are really on your own. And on top of all this the way the company calculates mileage reimbursement for your car does not even pay for gas let alone paying their fair share of maintenance and depreciation. They screw you out of the first 30 mikes each day and don't pay you a penny, despite the fact you may drive say 26 miles and do a job that takes 20 minutes--they just go free travel from you and you may make about 3 bucks to do the scan work on this job and you spent more than that just on gas they don't pay for, Like may former employees hope some former employee there gets a real job and sues these scroundrels and drives them out of business!!!!

Pros

Make own schedule. That's the only positive

Cons

Very little training. They will expect you to travel 30-60 minutes to complete a job that pays $12.00. Other jobs they will expect you to be in a store collecting data for long periods of time (2-5 hours) without anyone noticing what you are doing. Will not reimburse you for any purchases made while performing "undercover" work. It's ridiculous what they expect from their employees! Pay in NO WAY compensates for the stress and tedious work involved!
