Pros

Unfortunately there are pros except if your lucky, the community which you work will have lovely residents. I loved my job and was excellent at it. It comes down to your upper management.

Cons

Absolutely no rewards for a job well done. I can only imagine how many good people they have lost due to that.

Pros

A steady minimal at best paycheck.

Cons

Where do I start, Unrealistic expectations, constant pressure to do more, horrible upper Mgt from the RM up, no compassion for residents concerns. You will very rarely go home at the end of the day feeling good about yourself because of the constant unrelenting pressure from Mgt You can never do enough and when you do there is no appreciation.

Pros

Commissions on rentals and sales if you're hourly.

Cons

1. Meeting after Meeting after Meeting. You can never focus on your property or job duties with countless conference calls day in and day out. 2. Resident calls to corporate are immediately transferred right back to the property office. Residents are never able to voice their opinions, issues, or concerns to upper management and calls are never returned. 3. Sexual harassment and breach of resident and employee confidentiality is swept under the rug by human resources. 4. Outrageous hours. Property managers are expected to work no less than 50 to 60 hours a week and lunch breaks are frown upon. 5. Rent is raised annually, but properties are never kept up and the excuse is always the budget. It's managed by a multi million dollar company however funds are never available to repair roads, sidewalks, or trim dangerous trees. 6. Under qualified incompetent maintenance staff hired at a low salary. More damage is done by maintenance staff that have no training or previous experience. 7. Salaries are no where near competitive. Property managers salary begins at $32,000. Competitors pay managers between $40k and $50k. 8. Contractors and vendors must wait over 30 days for payment.
