Toxic and backwards

Pros

Friendly and supportive colleagues - in other departments also

Cons

Caution: If you're considering a role within Group Marketing and Communications (GMC), it's recommended to connect with former and current employees on LinkedIn beforehand. Many current employees are contemplating leaving the company. Decision-making within this environment is heavily influenced by politics rather than facts. The actual impact of your work takes a back seat to its appearance in presentations. Senior leaders openly gossip about employees, make salary decisions based on personal preferences, and mock aspects like the Danish work-life balance and stress leave. They also become defensive during the annual employee satisfaction survey and hold bitterness towards departing employees, often insulting them long after they've left. The culture is backwards. Senior leaders demand unquestioning obedience, prioritise individual wins over collaboration, and ridicule younger staff for being socially conscious ("woke"). They mock gender pronouns, complain about "white men" unable to make offensive jokes, and insist on outdated policies such as separate gender bathrooms.

Pros

Their great trust in their own abilities to keep doing what they have always done - and surprisingly - their ability to persuade the media that they are a "green"/sustainable company

Cons

Cynical and incompetent management, a board dominated by family members with no real credentials apart from coming from the money their grandfather made, vision-less and deceitful

Pros

The product is definitely the leader in this space and stands out well beyond it's competition. It was easy to represent, as it really did a good job of what it was supposed to do.

Cons

My direct superior was far too focused on pleasing management above, as compared to cultivating the team below. Feedback was rarely taken in if it didn't directly align with upper management's original directives, regardless of whether there was a case to be made for finding a better, more effective, more beneficial for all way of doing business. It never felt like my voice was valued or my ideas were heard - there was little in the way of support to grow my career. It was a very routine, mundane role because of how it was managed - there was more value that I could have brought forth, if I was permitted to do so. Communication was lacking at all levels of the company when providing major company updates, bonus expectations/explanations, and relevant information that affected employees and their ability to effectively do their part in being an expert in their space (let alone having a necessary baseline understanding of all things they should, in the role). Moreover, the manager I reported to typically failed at providing timely/relevant updates to the team, was delayed in responding to emails/phone calls that would involve inquiries directly related to executing the job (and would often go without answering them at all), and would simply be unaccountable and unreachable - they were even known to go away for stretches of time, whether for work or vacation, without even so much as letting the team know which caused confusion and inefficiencies that are otherwise easily avoidable. I also took the time out of my personal schedule to provide very detailed examples of what (more specifically, who) lead me to my decision to leave the company, with the hope that things may change for the better for those still there (if that feedback was taken as seriously as it should have been). Unfortunately, it's my understanding that nothing came of it, nothing was done, and nothing has changed. Training was lackluster; expectations didn't align with direction; opportunities were few and far between; communication was ineffective; leadership was non-existent.
