Pros

The work is engaging and fun, and work environments are professional.

Cons

Middle management is absolutely horrid. Condensing pay grades lengthens promotion cycles, coupled with simultaneous reduction in pay grade ranges means terrible pay raises that don't even beat inflation under normal circumstances.

Pros

Maybe semi-ok with respect to diversity and training.

Cons

Became clear after a short time that UTC (now Raytheon) had decided to divest itself of the Interlogix security business before I was hired into that team. So, I never really had a chance for success there. There was more politics and corresponding back-stabbing in that organization than I've experienced in the past 30 years of working in the technology industry.

Young SW Engineers beware

Pros

You get all the reasons to stay: stable industry, flexible scheduling, cushy office, matching 401k, tuition reimbursement, market salary etc. Cant say the same for fulfillment of purpose, quality of management, or culture

Cons

The bureaucracy is sole crushing. If you are a young employee trying to grow and reach some sort of potential, do not work here. Especially if you are in software. Your ideas will be shot down, you will not be inspired by managers motivated by the bottom line and not many companies will care you worked on something you cant talk about openly. Unless its Lockheed, L3, or your Dad’s buddy from the service at BBQs. Worked in IIS and the number 1, company wide goal was “Make the numbers”. As an engineer, that makes me cringe. You are treated as a number: a cost to the company, and you are treated as such. Easily moved around on a spreadsheet, and easily replaceable with a more “cost effective” line item This company is for people who want to retire as a Raytheon employee or try to climb a corporate ladder with an endless number of rungs (which is perfectly ok). If you want to be in the Office Space, this is perfect for you.
