Pros

Raytheon offers generous compensation packages.Good salaries and benefits however benefits are starting to slip. Medical plans have become weak with poor coverage.

Cons

Hard to accomplish things here with too much bureaucracy and office politics. It is often not what you know but who you know in order to be recognized. Not a friendly culture with little regard to its employees. Poor leadership that is more interested with ticking off the boxes than actually doing anything meaningful. Inflexible and unable to keep up with more modern business practices.

Pros

I moved from SAS division to IIS division within Raytheon which I shouldnt have done. SAS - Worked with really interesting work. Very laid back atmosphere. Great management. Learned a lot since the program I worked on required SW engineers to help with everything from requirements to testing. IIS - Plenty of opportunities to move around since they needed a lot of people in all departments.

Cons

SAS - Not a lot of opportunities to move up and gain more responsibilities. Technology and SW methodologies used to develop systems was very outdated and could end up pigeon holing your career. IIS - Much more strict. Micromanaged everything.

Pros

Flexible schedule, company 401K match, investment plan and learning about the defense industry. Ability to switch between organizations, programs and functions. The best places to be are in functional roles away from programs because you actually have time to think and apply solutions to help out analysts on the programs. It is beneficial to switch back and forth to have a fresh perspective. Many process improvement initiatives.

Cons

Finance is too lean. A significant amount of personnel are leaving the organization to supply chain, contracts or leaving the company - not only isolated to sub-par performers. The staffing levels could be more tolerable with investment in better reporting solutions that can be used across all programs. This would reduce the amount of time to reach root cause. There are many projects to improve processes, however, each group is in a vacuum without someone responsible to oversee the commonalities between the initiatives. This results in most teams spinning their wheels prohibiting closure or claiming closure without solving the original problem.
