Pros

The employees here are for the most part entertaining and fun people to be around, but you have to really go out of your way to interact. The company is doing well financially speaking and is currently thriving under the heavy, military-focused government office in place.

Cons

They do not promote talented people. Very focused on length of employment instead of actual abilities. Unrealistic expectations in regards to amount of work able to complete for one person. Employees work tons of over time and have to make up time for having lunch and going to the bathroom even when salaried... Management is not truly supportive in regards to employees being engaged with one another in any way that resemebles “fun” whether that is being involved in ERGs or as informal as taking a break to get up and walk around after sitting at your desk for 9 hour work days. Incredibly old fashioned environment and work culture. Salaries are non negotiable in certain divisions when hired on. Barely anyone under the age of 50 works here and there is a major generational gap that is not understood or worked on merging by pretty much anyone in supervision roles.

Pros

Good life-work balance. Most people are nice to work with. Descent pay for the area

Cons

Have you ever heard of brain drain ... this phenomenon hit defense pretty hard. Nobody wants to work in an industry that is run on 80's business model. Too much bureaucracy, too much red tape, work on your own culture with minimum development from your managers. Promotion is based on how many years you spent with the company versus skill. You feel like a # going to work every day among a sea of other engineers. The management is clueless as to why people are leaving for Silicon Valley and other startup. If you are in this industry for more than 3-4 years, good luck leaving ... your peers who work in commercial/medical world will be running circles around you by then.

Cons

Raytheon management talks the talk, but don't walk the walk - age discrimination, retaliation, cliques, vindictive managers - dreadful place to work
