Pros

A couple of great people on the team

Cons

The most awful place I’ve ever worked - all decisions come directly from above and are toxic, having no regard whatsoever for what employees want. The CEO is inept and has created a culture of gossip and fear mongering. People are frequently fired and staff turn over is extremely high, creating a total lack of job security. The role I am in was strongly mis-advertised as a creative enterprise role while in reality it is 100% grunt sales work.

Pros

My time at Raconteur, over two years ago now, was a fantastic entry into sales. Unlike traditional companies where you begin as a business development representative at Raconteur you manage the full 360 process. You get to hear from senior executives their views on industries and it's a great platform to project yourself into a career within sales. Management, albeit immature at times, are always there for you. Toward the end of my tenure, I considered the CEO, for example, a friend as well as a colleague. The one thing that I treasure above all at Raconteur are the friendships and bonds that I made with colleagues in the company that I have not been able to replicate elsewhere. Raconteur was truly a family above company.

Cons

The constant pressures of publishing a report on time and with the correct revenue could be extremely challenging and exhausting, which consequently meant holidays and time off was near impossible, which was one of my core reasons for moving on. And although the company preached a lot about mental health, for the sales team, practice what you preach was not something that occurred. (I will say this was over 2-years ago and much could have changed since)

Pros

Friendly colleagues - one of the best bunches of people I've worked with Genuine care for employees Good benefits Young atmosphere with lots of enthusiasm Always trying to develop a more inclusive workplace Great company socials Really varied role: creative and analytical

Cons

Can feel more very sales which is an odd when you're not on the sales team. This has slightly improved with the new restructuring of the publishing side of the business. The sales team has a clear career progression path that was explained in a company meeting, but I think the delivery and production side is a bit more vague/unclear, or at least for me it was. I think this happens though in any smaller team within a company.
