Great culture, wrong priorities

Pros

Culture here is great. Lots of office and team events and outings, complete with Mad Men-style libations. Lots of PTO. Flexible work hours, casual office environment. You're forced to learn a lot very quickly.

Cons

Employees are not paid what they're worth, and that's besides the fact that many of them work far beyond the 40-hour work week. Nights and weekends aren't pushed on them, but someone has to do it. Recognition isn't usually given for a job well done. You're more under the magnifying glass when something goes wrong. Internal teams sometimes work against you. Bigger decisions in the company seem to be driven by the dollar, but that's most places.

Pros

Great PTO Benefits It's a big company so if you are willing to move around, there are opportunities

Cons

You are so short handed that the thought of even using any of the PTO is disastrous The company will not match our 401K even though they increase their revenue year over year All complaints fall on deaf ears. .

A real mixed bag.

Pros

TMP Worldwide is a leader in recruitment advertising and has the resources to go along with their global position. Work-life balance is excellent with many employees working from home as needed. The focus is on getting your work done without the emphasis on face time, which is a nice change.

Cons

The career opportunities are limited. The great projects are given to a chosen few, and the rest of the company are viewed as worker bees who are there to support the star players. They overcharge their clients. Many long-term employees who have become fossilized in their positions with no desire to grow. This makes it hard for new people who come on board with a desire to try something new. If you want to come to a stable company and just do your job, this is a fine place to work. But there is not much room for outside-the-box, creative ideas that break new ground. Many of the senior leaders find that threatening. Most are fearful of angering the CEO.
