Pros

I enjoyed my time at Ramsey Solutions very much. My leaders were top notch in every way. If there was one thing I never worried about there it was the level of trust around me. My leaders trusted me and I trusted their leadership. This extended outside of the workplace also. Some of my best friends are my former co-workers and absolutely expect them to be lifelong friends. They led us through the trials of 2020 very well. The truth stands on its own. They protected our team as best they knew how in a time when many employers were furloughing or laying people off. In fact, they stood as a beacon of HOPE to many other people all over the country. We made it through all while continuing to serve our fans with first class experiences and new software products. Who does that during a pandemic?!? We did!! They follow a Kanban process. They never weaponized developer metrics. We were encouraged to pair up and work through engineering problems together. Our product team did great jobs talking to our fans to determine what they wanted. Then we developed a first class experience to meet folks where they are. I loved the slow movement over time towards concurrent development. It makes you feel good to know that the time you spent individually is being magnified by all the different disciplines on our team. Seriously good teamwork. The cafeteria had Benton’s bacon and the best darn grits and potatoes I have eaten. Kudos to the chefs that made that possible! Food is subsidized so a hearty breakfast cost just $4-5. Lunch options are great as well. I used my ministry time every year to do mission work or other work in conjunction with my church. My church and the people our mission team helped were immensely grateful. Also there are options around Thanksgiving for targeted volunteer efforts in our community. What an awesome benefit. Of course there are other benefits like the Christmas Party or other get togethers. Those were always epic and exceeded expectations yearly. Perhaps the biggest pro of working there was the opportunity I had to develop life changing software. Was it perfect software? Nope. Did it always deliver value? Yes! It really brought it home when we watched several debt free screams where the software our team developed was directly referenced as key drivers for positive life change. I loved working there!!

Cons

They didn’t have a pile of snack bacon available in the cafeteria outside of breakfast hours. Please consider adding this option!! :) Seriously, about the only thing that cones to mind are growing pains that accompany success. Good news is there are dedicated engineers and leaders working hard to scale things up. Huge progress has been made and continues to be iterated on.

But Wait, There's More........

Pros

This place is full of passionate people, and opportunity and generosity that flows from the top to the bottom and outside of the walls. We care about people and our community and each other. Some days are easy, some are a grind, some just suck and some days have so much fun packed in them, people wonder how we get work done. So do I sometimes. LOL! But wait there’s more……. I came into the company not quite knowing what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I just wanted to work. If was going to spend 40 hours a week away from my family, I wanted that work to be something that mattered. I not only found “work,” I found a mission I could get behind. We provided HOPE for all those outside of our walls. We also provide hope to those inside the walls as well. Many of us are debit free or working toward it. For me, the hope came in a different form. I thought I had spent all my best working years on a job I liked but I didn’t love and being a mom (I love my kiddos). I felt a little rusty and old (in work years). They put me on the right team with the right leaders and I was given a safe place to grow. I was surrounded by people who wanted to see me win. My leader always held me with an open hand and I moved on when it was time. I was all in and I worked hard and they rewarded me with more. That’s how this place works. I was so busy giving hope, I did not realize I was receiving it in return. Now I have a team and I will give them the same thing that was given to me. Is Ramsey Solutions perfect? Nope, but I will continue to show up every day because there are people who exist outside of those walls who need HOPE and we have a lot to give.

Cons

We are spread out in different buildings but they will change in Fall of 2019.

Pros

They care about you and will change things to improve. There are tons of team building activities like lunches, Christmas parties, and battle of the bands. Good times. I also enjoyed staff meetings every Monday to keep you in the loop and the opportunities to hang with Dave or other leaders outside of the office (pizza nights).

Cons

This is a large company now (500+) and was only 330 when I came on board. I'm sure, it is just as difficult to get to know people or feel connected. It can also be tough when you hear of people leaving and that happens at any job, but with 500+ it probably happens more often. I also liked how they will change things that are broken, it can just take some time. FOR YEARS the base pay in sales was $1,000 a month. They just changed that last year.....and it was in place for over 10 years. The other caution is that they are very innovative, so expect constant changes. Departments closing, shuffling, new ones opening, promotions of leaders, new products, etc. I was there for 2.5 years and we released 28 new products during that time (Everydollar, two new classes, three books, and three new speakers, just to name a handful).
