Pros

Engineers outside of system security can be smart people you learn a lot from. Projects are sometimes cool when they aren't slow.

Cons

Awful awful leadership in systems security. Everyone I know in the department hates management. They do tons of weird things like preventing us from working outside of the group, heavy merit punishments for any feedback, not putting feedback in workday, ignoring feedback in workday and cutting merit do to "unreported" feedback.

Pros

Offers good 401k match, approx 5% and then maybe another 4% in company stock contributed to your 401k. Decent amount of PTO with a holiday shutdown paid at the end of the year.

Cons

High pace environment, higher stress, salary appears to be on lower end of average for industry. Expected to come in on weekends to cover as a manager for overtime, this isn’t advertised.

Pros

I was paid more than 80k as entry level.

Cons

First off I was told I’d have to relocate to take the job, so I did because it wasn’t a good one and I didn’t think I could pass it up. I relocated and reported for my first day just for them to tell me I worked remote, that I could come in but nobody on my team but my manager (who had nothing to do with my role) was in the city I moved to. Anyways I applied and was hired for one role, when I started they had me in a different role reporting to people who thought I applied for the role I was given. I spoke to my manager, and his manager, and even a hugging manger and was told my placement was an accident and that they would help me transition into a role that better suited me. I was at first told I had to wait the 6 months before I could be transferred and then I was told I didn’t because my placement wasn’t my fault. I was told to find jobs on the internal website I’d be good with and send them to both my manager and my managers manager, as well as the bothering manager. I repeatedly check back in over the next 3-6 months but either didn’t get a reply or was given the run around. They found me work to do that supported others and I was used to, even though I was willing to learn while they placed me elsewhere. I didn’t have any tasks of my own or anything I solely owned, I was used in a support role for many people. Fast forward a year and a few months in and nothing has changed. When the lay offs started, I was one of the first people to go and I was told it was because I was only in a supportive role.
