Pros

Very diverse work place. Good work life balance.

Cons

Still outsources a lot, even when the domestic developers tell management that it hurts more that helps. Salary is below market.

I'm glad you like the diversity and work/life balance. By now you are aware of the global work force project wrapped around the development team. I'm excited that we are taking the time to review all skill sets, up against key priorities, that are deployed around the globe. This process will make us much more efficient as we build out teams that can deployed on a moment's notice. We invest a tremendous amount in R&D so its imperative that we become extremely efficient with our resources. I will be happy to look into your salary and share our benchmarks, so give me a call, and we will have an in-depth look at your personal situation. Doing that is not an issue at all. Great Experience overall, yet felt held back

Pros

I had an amazing team to work with and was eventually given a chance to take on some basic leadership of that team. Idea sharing, collaboration, and enthusiasm were abundant. There seemed to be a genuine concern for client needs. Pay was decent and flexibility for remote work situations was excellent.

Cons

I felt as though career development was lacking. Although I was given the chance to assume some basic level of leadership of my team, it felt like more of a fauxmotion than a promotion, aimed at trying to keep me by distracting me from what I had really expressed interest in, than a genuine advancement, as there was no real increase in ownership and the level my position created seemed extraneous. I appreciate the recognition that probably underlay the move. However, several experiences led me to feel as though I was being blocked from exploring opportunities outside of my department in spite of my extensive background in other areas.

Thank you for your post. I grew up in the Pepsi system where it was a badge of honor to promote your team up and out of your organization. In fact if you did not do that you could not advance deeper into your career. So your point rings true to me. The organization must move top talent forward, otherwise, top talent works for someone else. I can tell you that we are putting in a formal Human Resource Planning process that will be led by Kelly McCarthy. We want and must know all the skills our talent has, where the organization gaps are, business requirement needs that must be filled, and formally move people forward. Today over 70% of the jobs are being filled within so many people are making progress. I'm sorry that you departed. I would ask anyone reading this post, before you considering stepping out, that you reach out to your department leaders, division leaders, HR and lets explore opportunities that you might not even know are coming available. Top talent is critical to retain. I sincerely, hope you will reconsider RealPage when it is appropriate to you. I wish you nothing but success. Sincerely, Kurt Twining

Pros

Great people able to work from home on some days

Cons

Constant management turnover, extremely slow to make changes that would benefit client and employee-rather more focused on just making the company money

Thank you for you post. I'm very interested in your point of how we can make quicker changes to benefit clients and employees. It is also clear that your impression on promotions has some issues with what you may be experiencing. Having seen every promotional increase, I know that our compensation team looks at market data and position in the range before making a recommendation on any promotion. The overall pay to market is constantly being evaluated and we believe very strongly that we pay fairly for positions we have in place. In fact we pay a premium for technical positions. I am concerned that you mentioned that your current manager "will try to block you" from a promotion. If you are willing, I would like to personally work with you on your concerns. Let me buy you a lunch. Sincerely, Kurt Twining 4016
