Pros

-secure, steady work -decent pay -company gives bonuses -has a pension, ESOP, and the company that owns rector seal makes annual contributions to your account depending on year's revenue -genuinely want you to stay with company long term, and be able to advance you to a higher level in the future -The company has grown a lot in the last twenty years, much of that through smart acquisitions.

Cons

- Not a large company so not a lot of roles to transition to. - Normal office politic stuff (nothing unusual) - Get treated a little better if you work in the office than in the manufacturing or shipping section (like anywhere else)

There's Good and Bad

Pros

9/80 Flex Work Schedule (Tardiness depends on if you're hourly or salary, job function, and who you work for) Enjoyable and Relaxed office environment. Plenty of private offices available for employees of varying professional levels. The workload is manageable. Low turn-over. 90% of medical benefits paid for by the company. Management is responsive and ready to act on issues. Pension and Esop for retirement. The people (they grow on you after a while). Company expands through acquisitions and has steady and consistent growth.

Cons

Old methods and Old ideas. Old ERP system. Management can be "by the book." No work from home option unless you're in sales. Some staff can be territorial. Asking for resources or inquiring about how someone does something can be viewed as intrusive. Some managers are territorial with their departments and don't want other departments sticking their noses in. The ERP system encourages information silos inside of departments. Sometimes you have to hustle to get access to information that is relevant to your job and others may be reluctant to give it up.

Back in time with technology and company philosophy

Pros

Stable. If you want to quit and stay, you can. Sales lunches every month.

Cons

Departments work in silos. Everyone has been there since Christ was born. "We've always do it this way," is their mantra. There are certain people in place and don't cross them. If you do, you're on the street. If you are an hourly employee, don't be late. 3 mins late = a tardy. 10 tardies in a year, you get a warning letter. 18 tardies you get a suspension, at 24, you're canned. As a manager, I had people taking sick and vacation days because they'd be running 5-10 mins late and didn't want to accumulate the tardy. I'd loose 8 hours of production instead of 10 mins.
