Pros

One of the benefits of working at Red Hat is the culture of openness and flexibility in regards to how I choose to work. This includes being able to select the operating system and tools that I prefer to use on a daily basis. Additionally, Red Hat provides amenities such as snacks and a gym and cafeteria on site, which adds to the convenience and overall work experience. RedHat occasionally throws party's and events at the workplace which is a nice benefit, but most of the time its just < 10% of what it used to be.

Cons

As an employee of Red Hat, I have found that the culture here allows for a great deal of flexibility in terms of the tools and operating systems I use on a daily basis. However, I have noticed that bonus pay and raises can be somewhat stagnant. While Red Hat has historically been known for its strong workplace culture, the transition to remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic has made it more difficult to maintain the sense of connection that used to exist. Additionally, the acquisition by IBM has led to some concerns about the potential for cultural changes that could negatively impact the company. Overall, it feels as though the focus on the bottom line has increased, leading to a feeling of being a small cog in a large machine. RedHat has a difficult legal policy on terminating employees and can be difficult to navigate. I have witnessed repeated mistakes being made without adequate disciplinary action being taken. As a result, many top engineers have left the team due to these issues, which can be a burden on the rest of the team. It's important to hold team members accountable for their actions and to address any performance issues in a timely manner. (North America)

Pros

Latest tech stack to work on. Good atmosphere overall. Work-life balance. no-one force to work out of office hours unless you want.

Cons

1. No transparency in pay scales 2. Too often management shuffles 3. Salaries offered to me was 20% low for what they paid for someone outside to backfill me. 4. Employee attrition will keep jumping as managers try to get cheap labour from outside of EU.

Pros

- Be able to contribute within top projects - Be able to contact and learn from top gurus - Not a lot of pressure, at least for software development teams - Some nice perks

Cons

- Salary, while not bad, is slightly behind the market at least for Spain - Collaboration between teams might be slow due to some bureaucracy
