Pros

-Most managers are very flexible around working hours, if your position has that luxury -Good benefits -Fast paced environment can challenge you to grow

Cons

-Lack of strong leadership -Chaotic planning and execution of corporate changes -Fellow employees can be really rude, a culture that was created internally long ago through the notion of a "meritocracy" and all ideas are great to share. This often came in the form of openly criticizing colleagues.

Pros

Great culture focused on open source.

Cons

Compensation is below average based on salary and difficult to obtain higher compensation. AI efforts are limited internally although customer-facing products have access to foundation models that internally we are not able to use. We are even cleared to used gemini despite our strict internal development policy.

Work Environment at Red Hat

Business Outlook

Pros

Working at Red Hat is more than just a job—it's being part of a global community rooted in openness, collaboration, and innovation. Red Hat’s work environment stands out in the tech industry not only because of its open source heritage but also because of how these values are deeply embedded in its culture.

Cons

Red Hat empowers its associates with a great deal of autonomy and expects a high level of initiative and self-direction. While this is incredibly motivating for those who thrive in open, less structured environments, it can be challenging for individuals who prefer more rigid guidance or top down management. However, for those who enjoy ownership and the freedom to innovate, this is less of a con and more of a growth opportunity.
