Pros

- Freedom -- difficult to explain. - If you are a geek you can do the technical work without too much bureaucracy getting in the way. - If you like C (not C++), Python, Ruby, Bash, Java and Linux there are wayloads of opportunities there. - Possibility to work remotely or part-time.

Cons

- Many departments are like states in the state. - Many people in leading positions no longer understand the culture that made Red Hat so unique in the past. - Salaries are average, you can certainly make more money for less demanding work elsewhere, on the other hand it should not be your main reason to join the company anyway. - It is a big company -- your satisfaction will depend entirely on the team you join.
