Pros

they hire smart people, they value their employees, there is room for growth, is a successful company, open source, promote a meritocracy,

Cons

As a consultant, you can get put on jobs which are terrible and expected to work a lot in a stressful environment, but I think that is typical of consulting in general and Red Hat tries to work with employees to make sure they're happy

I worked consulting for 4+ years, learned a lot and liked my coworkers.

Cons

Company spreads thin on its development efforts. Sometimes moves too fast to jump on software fads.
