Pros

Fantastic colleagues who really go the extra mile to help if needed. Still possible to have a fairly ok life/work balance, but it is getting tighter. The compensation is also quite ok.

Cons

The culture has deteriorated during my 7 year tenure and you get the feeling more and more that you are only a number in an excel. If it was not for an exellent manager (who is stretched to the breaking point) i would probably be looking for an alternative.

Pros

I deeply respect how our leadership has fought to preserve Red Hat’s unique culture even after the IBM acquisition. However, since 2025, we’ve seen an acceleration in the integration of back-office functions into IBM. As this process scales, I feel that Red Hat is gradually losing some of its standalone agility and independence. That said, Red Hat’s 'Open Source Leadership' remains a dominant force in the market, and I believe its growth will only accelerate in the AI era.

Cons

Red Hat is gradually losing its unique culture and its standalone strength.
