Pros

The pay rate and quarterly bonuses are on par with lots of the best tech companies. PTO rates are pretty standard or a little better than most. They offer several professional growth and learning opportunities through programs created to progress associates in their careers.

Cons

The culture is stifling. Some thrive in it while others flounder. Hard to find a happy medium. The description some people give it as a wild, wild west environment is pretty accurate. If you can tolerate the push to progress while not actually being offered solid opportunities to grow, you'll last a while. If you actually want growth, you might find yourself frustrated.

Pros

Inclusive, flexible, family benefits, remote positions

Cons

Slow to give merit/pay increase and history of promotion without pay increases (higher job title).

Pros

Red Hat culture. The firehose of knowledge is freely accessible. You will learn a lot here if you want to, and there are some really great initiatives to get involved with.

Cons

They are riding on their previous reputation of being the open source cool kid - their salaries have typically reflected that everyone wants to work for the premier open source software company. Post-IBM acquisition, things are slowly starting to change, like they did when Starbucks bought the local coffee shop I worked at in college.
