Pros

I would probably give Red Hat a 3.5 out of 5 stars. My time here started right when the pandemic hit in 2020. I greatly enjoyed the remote work and energy of this leading global tech company. It started out as a 5 out of 5. I was given time and money to get up to speed on the new software, took a few courses, given projects that really pushed my skillset, which proved to be worth it in the long for everyone. I am very grateful for all that they have given me so far and let me experience with them. Red Hat is all about working in teams. You have to be a team player and leader sometimes. I just happened to grow the most in my leadership skills since learning we have so many meetings to get input from others, so that was a good growth opportunity that I took advantage of. As far as coding is concerned, I wish I did more, but I have enjoyed all of the integration and automation work I have done so far. I wish we did bigger projects more often and pushed the boundaries from the play it safe zone that only management understands. There are many factors to this, but I think with Red Hat culture, we should continue to push the boundaries to be open to experience new things that will add value in the long run.

Cons

Again, Red Hat started for me as a 5 out of 5 and slowly dropped to a 3-3.5 star. I have an amazing team. We have each others back and support one another everyday. That is the main thing that keeps me coming back to work. I have a great manager that cares, and that makes all of the difference to me. They notice when I am doing a lot of other extra work and realize I am pushing myself for the teams benefit or value added to the company as a whole. ***See Advice for Management* below for continued cons.***

Pros

There was a lot to do - so much hadn't been done properly.

Cons

Mid level mediocre. Kool aid drinking hangover from the previous decade. What was formerly a maverick, challenging culture became a paunchy middle aged complainer, resistant to new things. Took them years to understand what SaaS was, and then too late. IBM's oversight did not improve the situation. The hype is more important than the reality.
