Pros

promotes open source some talented people still remain stable pay

Cons

open source mission and ideals were outshadowed by capitalist mission of making more money it became cold impersonal machine where an individual matters as little a replacable cog wheel in a machine money is being saved on people, stacking them in open spaces in absurd density, and providing various benefits instead of reasonable working conditions. no link between actual skill/results and salary management structures scaled real bad with the unreasonable growth and they're working at minimum efficiency - it's a miracle something gets occasionally done
