Pros

Some of the best artists and employees to work with. Good benefits (health, dental, etc..) Decent pay for the area Great location in Deep Ellum

Cons

Top management only cares about themselves and their 'bro-culture'. Terrible creative decisions which has made the company struggle to stay afloat causing repeated rounds of layoffs for artists.. Outsourcing to Canada is their new 'idea' on how to make the company profitable. They try to do Pixar/Disney level quality with 20% of the budget and only end up hurting the artists Communication is non-existent

Pros

Free coffee. And once a month, if they haven't laid you off yet, they give you cake.

Cons

They're systematically destroying their own film division, and at the same time buying companies and property in the attempt to expand while hemorrhaging money. Most departments will be outsourced to Montreal within the next 8-10 months, even though senior management will tell you that it's only "exploring the option". They just experienced their 3rd round of lay offs this year, 5th in 18 months. There is no job security here. There are no in-progress feature films. There is no way this company could make another feature film with the lack of resources (artists, computers, render farm) and lack of knowledge. Everyone left there is completely depressed, job searching every day while they wait for the next Friday layoff.

big potential...bad management

Pros

Nice friendly work environment, great people, flexible schedule.

Cons

Lots of instability, no overtime pay, no room for promotions, incompetent management. ReelFX is a small studio trying to compete with the big boys...they could if only they knew what they are doing and would have made the right decisions, but they've made soooo many bad ones over the years it's laughable and continue to do so...the only reason they are still in business is because of the investors backing them. But how long can they keep up digging their own hole?
