Low pay.. Even though I understand that if the company could pay higher they would.

A Company with potential, but suffering from growing pains.

Pros

Young company! Lots of hunger to prove themselves and create great art. The desire to do better and better as an artist is very evident. Another benefit is that the small team means that you are given more chances to work on things that are far above your pay grade. The building is nice as well, especially after the renovation.

Cons

The entire business model of Reel FX is based around taking advantage of the thirst of the young talent. They assign projects which are incredibly difficult and basically impossible to finish in the allotted time given. They do that because they know that the young people working will work tons and tons of overtime to get the work done and to a very high quality. A quality which is much higher than what they are paying for. Overall they subsidize their business model by taking advantage of the people they hire. That causes a lot of people to get depressed and suffer from burn out.

Disappointing

Pros

Some great artists and production staff

Cons

The list is long. No overtime pay accompanied by mandatory overtime hours. This is on top of already low salaries to begin with. An expressed desire to create a slate of IPs, yet ineptitude in actually doing so. I was hired with the assurance that "we don't do contracts - we're a Texas company, so we do handshakes." Turns out their handshakes are worthless given that they completely went back on everything they told me when I was hired.
