Pros

Good place to get a start. Some nice experience, and a good stable of artists to work with. Good pipeline overall, nicer production tracking system than others.

Cons

Management is a boy's club, and trying to have any influence as a new person, at management level or not, is impossible. It's their company, you just work for the guys that are already there and in the club.

Pros

Free coffee. And once a month, if they haven't laid you off yet, they give you cake.

Cons

They're systematically destroying their own film division, and at the same time buying companies and property in the attempt to expand while hemorrhaging money. Most departments will be outsourced to Montreal within the next 8-10 months, even though senior management will tell you that it's only "exploring the option". They just experienced their 3rd round of lay offs this year, 5th in 18 months. There is no job security here. There are no in-progress feature films. There is no way this company could make another feature film with the lack of resources (artists, computers, render farm) and lack of knowledge. Everyone left there is completely depressed, job searching every day while they wait for the next Friday layoff.

Nice people, no OT pay/bad leadership

Pros

There are some great people here that I worked with at other studios. You also have the ability to learn about other aspects of the pipeline here because it really is a smaller house trying to be one of the big boys.

Cons

-no OT pay -low pay rate because "cost of living is cheaper in Texas" -not enough senior artists/artists with experience -ridiculously long hours This means that the one or two people in each department who actually know how to do their job are left working crazy hours to support the rest of the team. All of this is without any extra pay, or even the slightest bit of recognition. -dubious practices to try and milk tax subsidies -leads that don't know how departments work or supervisors who don't understand the pipeline -met with a lot of resistance when trying to improve workflows to industry standards -people with very little experience, but long histories at the company are given major leadership roles -low level projects with bad stories and worse box office performances
