Pros

Flexible work hours, good mission, good benefits; Opportunity to travel to interesting places and meet the populations for whom you work; HR is trustworthy, but can't do much to change systemic problems; Program staff have free range over their work and how they want to work; Small staff allows exposure to many aspects of the work.

Cons

This organization has little in regards to direction, strategy, and vision. Executive management tends to react to situations rather than plan and likes to self-congratulate for non-accomplishments/objectives met; Management fails to address staff issues and well-being in the work place; Big focus on fundraising, but no significant growth in funding in years, i.e., raises and COLA adjustments are few and far between; Board directors, which outnumber the number of staff members, are often absentee and many who are active use the organization for social means, but there are some good apples who believe in the work and give a lot financially.
