Pros
Working at a movie theater can be fun. It is a relaxed environment where you can spend a fair amount of time working with other people instead of being stuck to a register your whole shift. One of the best reasons to work at a theatre would be the schedule. Unlike a regular store, we know when it will be busy and when it will be slow. The down times are good for cleaning an restocking, but most importantly keeping people moving and not having to repeat the same tasks over and over again. The three main positions in a theater remain very diverse and each have their own perks. Being a Box office cashier is a very simple job which in some theaters, you are actually required to sit for your whole shift, making it low on the physical demands scale. Ushering is a moving position with very little interaction with customers, which can be very nice at times. Cleaning theaters is not a s bad as you would expect it to be, and you are always with other employees which you can talk with and have fun with. While ushering you also get sneak peaks of every movie while checking for disturbances and proper projection. Although a physically demanding position, also the most relaxed. Concessions is neutral on the physical demand side. It involves alot of standing, but nothing to strenuous. Almost everything Regal serves is pre-made, and just needs to be heated up, so it also makes the job very simple. It is possibly the busiest position so those that get bored easily would find themselves best suited for concessions. Pay is very relative to city. At my location pay is very competitive with comparative jobs, but with minimum wage going up in Idaho, most businesses will probably have the same wage, so don;t change your mind over the money.
Cons
The bad. It can get very repetitive, thought the set schedule has its perks, it also created they same shift day to day. At my location we a re scheduled in one position, i.e. "Concessions", and don;t move from that position making a typically boring job even worse. Boredom can be easily over come with other fun employees to work with, but if you are on your own, then you are out of luck. At my location most managers seem to care about their job and i would say 80% have a firm grasp on how the place should and does run. The rest just come to work to sit in the office and chat, occasionally hiding when it gets busy, or coming out to yell at the employees. Overall management is not too bad, but there are always one or two of them on your nerves.
