Pros

The science never ceases to amaze me. Bosses being open to research studies and willing to listen to innovative ideas. Management for my group is good.

Cons

The culture of collaboration was a product of bygone, pre-covid days. Some of the new talent is questionable. I've heard stories of how competitive new hires get with you to secure promotions and approvals from higher ups. Those type of people can talk well, but deliver little. In other groups, hiring process is directed by personal connections/uni affiliations/nepotism. Hilarious when hiring managers complain about not getting enough talent because whoever they chose to hire don't do the work. Take a guess. Transferring to other groups is tough even for internal employees. HR is external, so they have no stake in responding late to you. You can feel how much the company cares about you. :) A downward trend since the covid era.

Pros

Free bad food, good environment for 40-year-old frat boys, if you enjoy harassment, bullying, spying and discrimination then go for it

Cons

Where do I start? Pay rate as a consultant was lower than industries that pay less than pharmaceuticals. Environment was the most toxic place I ever set foot in. Workplace mobbing, totally unethical people, spying, slander, backstabbing, endless passing the buck... I literally witnessed a gay woman join in harassment of another LGB woman just to please her gross boss... I could go on and on

Pros

• Sense of stability, no fear of job loss (at this time - May 2022)

Cons

• The company will hire new people with little to no experience and those new people will make as much as tenured people who have been in their roles for several years. No adjustments will be made. • Promotion raises are pitiful and non-negotiable. They’re set to an arbitrary percent of your current salary despite you taking on additional responsibilities and stress. • This whole “hybrid” part remote, part in office model the commercial org is counterproductive. You are to come on site to show your face to the powers that be that oftentimes aren’t even there themselves, but there’s no guarantee any other team will be there making it utterly pointless. • Same low quality food except now we’re required to order lunch through an app that doesn’t work 80% of the time instead of being able to place orders face to face in the cafeteria. • Pressuring people take these surveys when you have no intent of changing what matters most to your employees. How many years have people been asking for career development pathways, preceptorship programs for lateral moves, rotations in other groups? It comes up every year and nothing is ever done about it.
