Too corporate

Pros

The salaries are good compared to other companies in the area and there are weekend bonus hours which are great. People who work here are generally younger depending on what department you are in. free breakfast on fridays and cheap prices in the cafeteria. Great PTO policy.

Cons

Very corporate and not a cool company as they try to portray in orientation. There is someone always breathing down your back and the guy in charge sets the precedent by sending emails spying on people and mentioning it as a lesson in the email. To elaborate the director spent a day watching a piece of garbage on the sidewalk and took photos of people walking by who didn't pick it up and sent a company wide email. Petty is an understatement. This makes the leadership of this company really intense and not a fun company to work for.

Strategic Mistake in IT

Pros

For several years I enjoyed working at Regeneron. There were many smart people and everyone worked together for the right reasons. In IT, though leadership was a little shaky, there was a true team atmosphere and things got done. Very few people left.

Cons

An IT leadership change was needed. We got it, and things got worse. The new leadership immediately placed all trust in kiss-ups and dismissed many of the people who actually produced. Many that remained just quit. Company Strategy: take a company that's growing and looking for the best people. IT Strategy: Get rid of all the experienced people and hire cheaper less experienced people. Then let Consultants who don't know our business (i.e. Accenture and others dictate the organizational structure and tell us how to run our business. Sounds like a mistake Pfizer made years ago... Very sad to see this happen. We may save a little money, but the level of service to our customers has been severely diminished. Maybe time for a reboot?

Pros

They pay fairly well, especially for off-shift employees

Cons

-Terrible hours, benefits, opportunities for technical promotions -Young management that are not qualified. Most of the managers are sleeping with another manager or someone who reports to them. On my first week at the job I was told IOPS management was "a giant orgy". -Managers frequently use offense in group meetings, such as the "r" word and every curse word under the sun -I have reason to believe there is racist hiring practices. The number of minorities working at IOPS is EXTREMELY low. I would say less than half that of Tarrytown. -Its hard to get promoted unless you sleep your way to the top. I know this sounds biased, but if you look at the amount of managers who are sleeping with other managers it becomes hard to deny.
