Citizenship status is also used by HR and legal to convince employees towards a given viewpoint when they become embroiled in these situations. Be forewarned if you decide to accept a position at Regeneron, you may be gambling with your career - there are systemic ethical dilemmas lurking just beneath the surface. Presumably one reason the IT department is such a mess is that they have to be involved with problems like this one, where there is a clear electronic paper trail to hide.
