It was the best of jobs, it was the worst of jobs

Pros

The positive reviews here are true. Regeneron is a company that *overall* cares about the employees and the patients we serve, and it shows.

Cons

Unfortunately, all of the negative reviews here are also true -- at least in IT. If you are a scientist looking for a place to grow and further your career, this *might* be a good place to do it. If you are an Information Technology Professional, run away!! You won't be joining a professional environment due to the abusive leadership at the CIO level.

Pros

The company has awesome Velocigene technology and has a capability to generate next generation therapeutics. The science responsible for Regeneron's success as a biotech company

Cons

It is all about the quantity and not quality: To support the pace of Regeneron’s drug discovery workflow, lot of senior scientists just want to generate the data without worrying about the quality. They don’t want to take some extra time to optimize experimental conditions and disregard the importance of careful design of experiment (DOE). Most of the senior members have been with the company for more than 16 years and are very proud of Regeneron's discovery strategy. Although I respect their pride; especially since it backs up with the company’s growth; lot of time they get egocentric; disregarding any new ideas produced by young scientists. Moreover, the senior members also have their own favorites; mostly people working with them since the beginning of their career which is very disheartening for younger scientists. I understand that everyone has their favorites; but please don’t make it obvious. Regeneron 5; the company’s core values is losing its value and lot of people including myself feel like working for the pay check and not for science. Stock options; the main reason for people wanting to work for Regeneron, is not an incentive anymore; especially due to the dropping stock value. So lot of employees, including myself wants to change the job for a better work culture and a better work-life balance.

Stay away if you are a contractor

Pros

Decent pipeline of products, some collaborative hard workers, free food, nice campus. I've met a lot of great people both professionally and personally who will be lifelong friends.

Cons

I contracted at REGN for over two years in 2 different departments. One worse than the next. Incompetent, fake managers and difficult, demeaning, backstabbing and lying team leaders who do not have any concern for the professional development of temps. The "carrot dangling in front of the face" analogy is a good way to describe my experience working at Regeneron. As a contractor, you have the same exact expectations as full-time employees, without the additional benefits or perks. I would highly recommend avoiding Regeneron unless you can obtain a full-time position.
