Not a healthy place to work

Pros

The product is good, a (sort of) fully 3D printed rocket cost less economically than a composite rocket and is much lighter.

Cons

A toxic work environment. I didn't realize I hadn't revisited my experience at this place until one of my team members was forced out for having an opinion that management didn't like. The leadership team is truly made up of individuals that are friends of the CEO, they do not have the credentials to be in the positions of power they are placed in. Someone in management was placed in an engineering role without any engineering experience, which was shocking to say the least when they told me just that. The biggest issue is the toxicity towards each other. There is so much gossip and the members of Relativity even bring the gossip to the local breweries. I sat next to two former coworkers and listened to them speak such nasty and horrible things about a coworker for being non-gender conforming, it was just mind blowing seeing as they were having this chat rather loudly at a brewery with "you are welcome here" LGBTQIA flags posted everywhere. The leadership will truly talk down to you, even if you're doing your job, and it's truly just an excuse to berate you because they have no other reason to give when asked why they are upset. The people team is pretty useless, as well. They refuse to help you when you are in need, only offering empty words of sympathy but never putting forth any real action. I was once given a one hour chat because I placed a label on a bin that was not visible in the front, although the bin sat solo on a shelf. The label that was required per the ME instructions would not fit on the front of the bin (a thin bin for a board), so I placed it on the top. It had to have all the required info and be printed on the required label. However, because the ME decided that didn't work like they wanted, it was my fault for not thinking of using a p-touch label, instead and only putting the part number instead of all the other info. I must also mention how the ME instructions had to be followed to the dot or that same ME would have a melt down. Go figure. I was written up by my manager for that one because the ME asked him to. I was also given a write up for replying all to a department congratulatory email that others had replied to, but my manager decided it was an opportunity to sit down for a whole hour and berate me about what an embarrassment I was to his team for doing so. Went to the people team about it who said they agreed but merely gave me their sympathy. I could go on but you get the idea. All the reviews on here about a toxic work environment help me see that it wasn't just me. I felt singled out but now I see it was a company wide issue. Favoritism, gossip, toxicity and a useless people team make up the whole of my experience there. You have to walk on egg shells because if someone decides they don't like you for whatever reason, you bet your bottom dollar they will do anything to get you gone. Oh, the icing on the cake was when the CEO, with a beer in hand told me I was only hired because I was pretty.

Lost its way

Pros

You can still find some pretty incredible people who work here. Lot's of friendly, hardworking, sharp engineers that get to work on really inspiring projects.

Cons

The company went on an irresponsible spending spree after the last fundraising round in 2022 where the company was significantly overvalued. The company is now living paycheck to paycheck as it struggles to raise more money to keep the lights on. With no product or revenue, investors are understandably worried about sinking in any more money. After the first flight of Terran 1, the company completely lost its way. It went from an innovative 3D printing company launching Terran-1 in record time, to a mediocre performance Terran-R that has no realistic launch date, or feasible way to ship from California to Florida. Even if Relativity could get their next rocket to the launch pad, it will hit a brick wall when Starship starts flying and Falcon 9 completely gobbles up any remaining launch customers. Executive leadership has no clue how to navigate out of this tailspin, and have been so far removed from the day to day operations that they wouldn't even know where to start. With no more innovation to their manufacturing after 3D printing was proven ineffective for the fuselage, there isn't a compelling reason to bet on Relativity Space. Most of the good engineers know this and have left the company.

Pros

- Company is willing to take risks in order to make progress - Internal resources are shifted to face the biggest challenges facing the company

Cons

- Senior leadership lacks EQ and is out of touch with the ground level - Problems solving approach is success oriented and favors potential schedule gains, rather than addressing problems head on or assuming that some problems might not be solved by the easy route - Politics and optics are a large part of how employees rise and fall
